9. What is a Giclée print?
The word "giclée" (pronounced gee-clay) is French, meaning "to spray." It also signifies a fine art reproduction, as opposed to a print made for a tradeshow, or other commercial uses. The name has become a standard term within the digital printing industry. Giclees can be found in most museums and private collections around the world. Our limited edition prints are print on archival quality papers with inks rated to last between 75 and 200 years, depending on handling and care.
Fine Art Papers
We use archival, acid-free types of papers for long lasting color for all of our print needs. This paper has the highest resolution and color saturation possible.
Premier Art Canvas
We use Matte canvas and Gloss canvas media made from a durable blend of Polyester and Cotton. Our canvases are a medium weight, quality canvas utilizing a tight weave that is ideal for fine art and everyday printing alike. It offers a high resolution coating that is pliable enough to withstand stretching over bars, and displays a subtle texture for a true artistic appearance and feel. Combined with incredible color reproduction, our canvases have either a matte or high gloss finish, instant dry versatility, and water resistance to allow the highest image quality and an archival display life with proper care and handling.

The Art of J. Luis Lozano features Limited Edition Prints. A Limited Edition print is a print that has a limited number of printings printed with superior inks on superior quality papers. Once the number of predetermined prints have been run, that image is no longer available for sale as a Limited Edition, thereby increasing the value of the print. Limited Editions are available on satin smooth paper, watercolor paper, and canvas. Inks are rated to last between 100 and 200 years, depending on care and handling. These Limited Edition Prints are personally signed and numbered by the artist and include a certificate of authenticity with appropriate signatures and numbering..
Open Edition Prints are prints that are neither signed nor numbered. Prints are similarly known as poster prints. Inks and papers are usually not as superior in quality and may not last as long as Limited Edition Prints.
